Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC, issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of MVP’s in-service:

The MVP is an American success story. Thousands of men and women worked diligently for years to complete this important project, persevering through the repeated challenges and delays caused by opponents whose actions hindered landowners along the route and families and businesses across the eastern United States.

Now that this critical system is in operation, MVP has proven to be an integral component in our nation’s energy infrastructure system. It is part of a national network of more than 2 million miles of natural gas pipelines operating safely, reliably and efficiently, out of public sight and mind, and supplying the lower-carbon energy needed to power modern life.

MVP is instrumental in providing a reliable supply of affordable natural gas needed to meet state and national environmental goals, promote economic development and job creation and ensure economic and energy stability. The project’s completion has benefitted millions of Americans, including those who opposed it, and will continue to do so. In a joint report from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and North American Electric Reliability Corporation, MVP was acknowledged for its critical role in helping to avoid supply curtailments during winter weather events and periods of record demand.

We remain grateful for the strong broad-based, bipartisan support for this project and remain committed to its safe and responsible operation as it serves the public and our nation today and through the years ahead.
